Other restored sites include the Masters Hotel at Burr Oak, Iowa, where the Ingallses lived in 1876 and the Almanzo Wilder Home (Farmer Boy). They first met in the 1980s when Cannon auditioned for Landon's series Father Murphy. She is best known for playing Felice, Donna Martin's mother, on Beverly Hills, 90210.

The show is a full-colour version of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s series of Little House books. Here, Laura’s journal entries and letters from three of her most memorable journeys have been collected in one volume. On the Way Home recounts her 1894 move with her daughter, Rose, and her husband, Almanzo, from South Dakota to Mansfield, Missouri, where Laura would live for the rest of her life. In West From Home, Laura wrote letters to Almanzo about her adventures as she traveled to California in 1915 to visit Rose. Finally, The Road Back tells the story of Laura and Almanzo’s first trip back to DeSmet in 1931, the town where Laura grew up and where she fell in love with Almanzo. Laura’s candid sense of humor and a keen eye for observation shine in this wonderful collection of writings about the many places she called home.

Mansfield, Missouri, is the chosen final home town of Laura Ingalls Wilder. It was here, on her farm, that she wrote the Little House books. Each year the whole town celebrates with a festival, turning back the clock to the late 19th century. During the festival, the town square becomes a showcase for handmade crafts. There is a big parade, and folk music is played from the gazebo in the park. He not only was the rock of the show acting-wise, but he also directed the pilot episode.

When Percival's parents visit Walnut Grove for the birth of Nellie's baby, Percival reveals that his real name is Isaac Cohen, much to Harriet's consternation. Percival's father, Benjamin, is passionately and devoutly Jewish, which brings him into conflict with Harriet and her Christian beliefs, especially over the question of which religion the new baby will be raised in. Nels brokers a truce between Benjamin and Harriet with the suggestion that a boy should be raised in the Jewish faith and a girl should be raised as a Christian. When Nellie gives birth, she unexpectedly has twins, a girl and a boy, so Nellie and Percival agree to raise their son Benjamin as Jewish and their daughter Jennifer as a Christian. Laura and Almanzo clash again over their different aspirations for their marriage, and this is aggravated when Laura comes to believe that Almanzo is having an affair with one of his former girlfriends, Brenda Sue. Laura returns to her family, saying she wants to leave Almanzo, and even picks a fight with Brenda Sue.

Jonathan Gilbert cut himself off from his family, including sister Melissa

Here to talk about the show's outsized impact on American culture and share her experience being part of it is the woman who played its star Laura, Melissa Gilbert. The original Little House on the Prairie television series that aired on NBC is perhaps the best known visual incarnation of the series. It ran for nine seasons and over two-hundred episodes, not counting the pilot movie or the final three television films. It starred Michael Landon as Charles Ingalls, Karen Grassle as Caroline, Melissa Sue Anderson as Mary, Melissa Gilbert as Laura along with Lindsay and Sidney Greenbush both playing Carrie. When Laura and Mary go skinny-dipping with their friend, Ellen Taylor (Mia Bendixsen), some boys come by to get a glimpse.

After Jonathan wins a rigged preliminary bout, many of the residents of Walnut Grove bet on Jonathan to win the final, including Mrs. Oleson who risks the money entrusted to her as treasurer for the church. However, this final match strains elderly Milo's heart, and he dies after the match concludes with his victory and his pride restored. Just as Mary falls in love with newcomer Seth Barton (Robert Kenneally), her nearsightedness begins to worsen. Charles takes her to an optometrist and she initially appears to need stronger lenses, but the vision still worsens a few days later. She returns to the eye doctor, who discovers she had scarlet fever a few years back.

I think I would say that it is a show about a family of pioneers in the 1800s making their way through all of the difficulties that families face today and doing it with love and community and faith and integrity and no money. Sleigh rides give way to buggy rides in the spring, and Laura impresses Almanzo with her willingness to help break his new and often temperamental horses, Barnum and Skip. Laura's old nemesis, Nellie Oleson, makes a brief appearance during two Sunday buggy rides with Almanzo. Laura is annoyed by Nellie's chatter and flirtatious behavior towards Almanzo. Shortly thereafter, Nellie moves back to New York after her family loses its homestead. The book is notable as being the first in which Laura's age is historically accurate.

A character actor with over 100 credits, he was the Doctor on Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea from 1964 to 1968. He later returned to guest roles, including ER, Hill Street Blues and three episodes of Highway to Heaven, which reunited him with Landon. His final TV credit was in a 2011 episode of the Kelsey Grammer series, Boss. Matthew Labyorteaux first appeared on Little House on the Prairie in 1976 as a younger Charles Ingalls in flashbacks. He later joined the cast as Albert, the adopted son of Charles and Caroline, a character created for the series.

The Long Winter begins in Dakota Territory at the Ingalls homestead on a hot August day in 1880. Pa tells Laura that he knows the winter is going to be hard because muskrats always build a house with thick walls before a hard winter, and this year, they have built the thickest walls he has ever seen. In mid October, the Ingallses wake with an unusually early blizzard howling around their poorly insulated claim shanty.

When Larabee leaves, Andy gets a lamp and begins looking for his mom and dad. When the Garveys return home, they find their barn in flames, and Larabee is fingered as the likely culprit. At his trial, there are several surprising developments, including Andy's confession about leaving the lamp by the barn on a windy night, which prompts the judge to throw out the barn burning charge. He still finds Larabee guilty of assault and instead of any additional jail time, he orders Larabee to recompense Jonathan for the value of his lost wheat crop.

The colors in the sky at sunset, the delicate tints of the early spring foliage, the brilliant autumn leaves, the softly colored grasses and lovely flowers - what painter ever equaled their beauties with paint and brush? In 2023, the actor and director launched Let's Be Clear with Shannen Doherty, a podcast that reflects on her life and career. “I wanted to be clear about what it was like for me to work with Michael Landon on Little House, what it was like to work with Wilford Brimley on Our House, to talk about the days. Albert (Matthew Labyorteaux) takes a job as an apprentice for a woodworker Isaac Singerman (John Bleifer), a Jewish man who is the target of deep prejudice in the community. Charles and Albert return to Walnut Grove after Albert has repeated run-ins with the law for curfew violations and theft.

Rachel Lindsay and Sidney Greenbush as Carrie Ingalls

These days, Kyle Richards is best known as a reality TV star, but she actually got her start on "Little House on the Prairie" when she was cast as Alicia Sanderson Edwards. While Richards hasn't given too many interviews about her time on the show, she has seemed happy enough to have it referenced here and there. In 2016, Richards even hosted a 17-episode "Little House" marathon on COZI TV, and had all positive things to say when NBC asked how she felt after being asked to host the marathon. She said, "I was really excited. It was such a fun show to be a part of." For those of us of a certain age, "Little House on the Prairie" will always be emblazoned in our hearts and souls. The feel-good, surprisingly progressive TV series ran from 1974 to 1983 and imparted moral lessons on courage, standing up for the underdog, and always doing what is right and what benefits others.

Storyline

Gilbert called Landon, who died in 1991 at the age of 54, "magnetic," saying he "drew me in but he also played with me right away." A bachelor neighbor that the Ingalls meet after moving across the prairie. He helps Pa finish the house when a log falls on Ma and sprains her ankle.

Caroline's stepfather, Frederick Holbrook, is inconsolably distraught, until the family—enjoying his tales of when Caroline was young—persuade him to write his autobiography. Meanwhile, Mary is heavily pregnant, and soon gives birth to Charles' and Caroline's first grandson, Adam Charles Holbrook Kendall. Ray Bolger returns as the happy-go-lucky-who-turned-bankrupt Toby Noe. He is staying with the Ingalls family, eating them out of house and home, when the spirited spinster Amanda Cooper catches his eye. Toby sets out to win her heart, but she is determined to keep him at arm's length.

The Ingalls family is delighted by the birth of a baby boy, Charles Frederick Ingalls, but Laura becomes jealous about the attention he receives from Charles and refuses to pray for her new brother's good health. When the baby dies soon afterwards, Laura is crushed with guilt, and Reverend Alden advises that she needs to get closer to God. So Laura runs away from home and climbs a mountain, where she prays to God that she should take the place in Heaven of her baby brother so that the baby may come back to life. As Charles and Mr. Edwards search for Laura, she is looked after by Johnathan, a heaven-sent stranger (Ernest Borgnine) who helps her realize how much she really means to her father. When Reverend Alden (Dabbs Greer) asks for donations for a bell for the church building, Mrs. Oleson announces that she and her husband will donate a large bell, along with a plaque with their names on. This divides opinions in the town, with strong feelings on both sides, causing Reverend Alden to feel he is to blame and so he decides he should leave.

Farmer Boy, published in 1933, is the second of the Little House series. It is the sole book that does not focus on the childhood of Laura Ingalls. It is focused on the childhood of Laura's future husband, Almanzo Wilder, growing up on a farm in upstate New York in the 1860s. Among those who have left a lasting impact on Gilbert is the late Michael Landon, who not only played Ingalls patriarch Charles, a.k.a. "Pa," but also produced the series as well as directed and wrote many episodes. As for why generations of fans have continued to watch the show long after its 200-plus episodes across nine seasons came to an end in 1983, Grassle had a thought.

Melissa Gilbert as Laura Ingalls Wilder

Charles explains to Laura that Almanzo acted out of jealousy, which means that he is now returning her feelings for him. So Laura seeks him out at the church social, and they share their first kiss on her 16th birthday. Caroline hears that her mother and stepfather are coming for a visit, but her mother passes away during the train journey.

Jennifer Donati (Baby Rose Wilder)

The situation is saved by a popular mute coppersmith, 'Tinker' Jones (Chuck McCann), who enlists the help of the local children in making their own bell. The First Four Years, published in 1971, is commonly considered the ninth and last book in the original Little House series. It covers the earliest years of Laura and Almanzo's marriage.[45] The style is less polished than the other books because it was discovered among Laura's papers after her death and published unedited. After their final episode in 1982, Rachel Lindsay appeared in Matt Houston, while Sidney starred in the dramedy Hambone and Hillie. They also collaborated on commercials for Doublemint gum, Mattel and Kentucky Fried Chicken before leaving acting to focus on school. She also made her feature film debut in the 1981 horror Happy Birthday to Me.

Little House continues to remain popular in reruns in syndication. The Hallmark Channel has broadcast the series for years and still does on a daily basis. Additionally, Little House on the Prairie can also be seen on INSP; and, because of it's historical background, the FCC deemed the show as acceptable to meet E/I programming guidelines.

Las Vegas, with a metro area population of nearly 3 million, is one of the largest cities in the country without an art museum. So it was with great fanfare that the city revealed in December that it had approved an “exclusive negotiating agreement” with the Las Vegas Museum of Art to continue work on plans for a proposed 90,000-square-foot, three-story building in Symphony Park.

“We have other partners that help in that funding as well, but [the Irvine Co. and Bren Foundation gift] is a significant amount of money that helps fill that definite need. Without that, we wouldn’t be able to provide the programming for students,” Yu said. As the need for in-person space becomes more & more unpredictable, adaptive reuse projects like this—with no singular program—may continue to be the norm, especially in areas like Los Angeles’ Arts District where old infrastructure is constantly being recycled & redeveloped. And, while the design team made strategic alterations to the exterior—modifying openings, creating a new entry vestibule, and refinishing the facades—they were meticulous in maintaining the building's original aesthetic.

LACMA might be a de facto museum of contemporary art, but frankly it’s not a very good one. Govan and Wynn Resorts co-founder Elaine Wynn sit on both the Vegas museum and LACMA boards. Govan does not expect any conflicts of interest to arise, and points out that many arts leaders occupy multiple board seats across the city and the country. Wynn, who is a LACMA board co-chair, has already given LACMA $50 million — one of the largest single gifts in LACMA’s history — Govan notes, adding that he doesn’t know how much more the L.A. To do this, Sheft Farrace streamlined the build-out and started focusing more on sweeping structural moves rather than erecting smaller interior elements typical of conventional office spaces. They delineated zones of activity through the manipulation of the ground plane.

Another characteristic of Tutter is that he has big dreams and thinks big about himself but often finds himself at a loss when asked to describe what's unique or special about him. When Tutter is annoyed or upset about something, he will sometimes start shouting names of cheeses as if they were epithets. He likes to do these things perfectly and gets upset sometimes when they don't seem to be working out. Each episode opens with the welcome song, Bear detecting a scent in the viewers (which he likens to a pleasant smell) and appearance of the characters. Each show focuses on a theme (ex; "sleep", "doctors", "Thanksgiving") which folds into a lesson at the end. The character "Shadow" narrates a segment with shadow puppets in each episode. That night, Bear talks to Luna about Tutter's first day of school, and Luna muses about the children she's watched grow up over the years. Bear says goodbye to the viewer and adds that he's looking forward to sharing more "firsts" with them. Luckily for them, there's a "first day parent waiting area" right outside the school. While Bear joins some other first day mouse parents, Tutter begins familiarizing himself with the school. With some encouragement from a classmate, Tutter finds the courage to ask Miss Maxwell about lunchtime and is delighted to hear that the school serves cheese for lunch.

Tutter gives Bear another update before his nap, but still remains a little unsure about school, so Bear agrees to stay a little longer. 117 episodes were produced including two 2-parters and an unaired pilot. Home video offerings began on VHS in 1998, with the first DVDs being released in 2000.

With her encouragement, Tutter joins his classmates, only to accidentally knock down their block tower. Tutter worries for a moment that he's blown it, but his classmates are welcoming and invite him to build the next tower with them. Bear checks up on Tutter one last time, and the mouse finally decides he's ready for Bear to leave. Tutter thanks Bear for his help and eagerly rejoins his classmates. He gets a little worried when Miss Maxwell approaches him, but she assures Tutter that everything is okay and even compliments his drawing. The mice all begin to feel a little sleepy, so Miss Maxwell gets them ready for nap time.

At the end of each program, Bear heads to the attic of the house and talks with his friend Luna, the moon, about the day's events. The two sing "The Goodbye Song" and notable scenes from the episode are shown in brief. Sometimes, at the opening of the program, Bear will have a talk with Ray. In the fourth season of the program, Woodland Valley, the community at large, is featured much more heavily. Tutter (Bear in the Big Blue House)

Bear lives in the Big Blue House where he is a caregiver for his friends Ojo, a bear cub; Tutter, a mouse; Treelo, a lemur; otters Pip and Pop; and storyteller Shadow. Those normally include solving problems, sharing, cooperating with each other, and developing social/life skills. Tutter learns that having a birthday means becoming 1 year older. Treelo, though, gets so excited about the birthday that at first, he wants to keep the present for himself. Tutter also has a tendency to worry and fret, another similarity to Boober Fraggle. He sometimes keeps his problems to himself, but generally finds that talking to his friends, or Bear, helps.

Episode information

Doc Hogg even stops by to wish Tutter well and shares a cry with Bear over how much Tutter's growing up. But when Tutter realizes Bear is only dropping him off at school, his fears catch up with him and he begins to worry that he won't fit in. Bear helps Tutter through his worries and agrees to wait outside the school until Tutter's comfortable with being there on his own. On October 19, 2022, the series began streaming on Disney+ with nine episodes missing at time of launch. Bear in the Big Blue House is aimed at teaching lessons to preschool and early school-age children. In each episode, Bear explores learning concepts such as feelings, the alphabet, nature, science and more with the kids of the Big Blue House and/or out in Woodland Valley.

Later, Shadow appears and tells Tutter and Bear the story of The Lion and the Mouse. The story inspires Tutter to show Lilly his appreciation, so he lets Miss Maxwell know the poem was Lilly's idea after they recite it the next day. Back at the Big Blue House, Tutter and the rest of the gang surprise Bear with a plate of corn fritters and let him know how much they appreciate him for taking care of them. Tutter has his mousehole in the house, while most of the other young characters only spend the day here. After the mice have their nap, Tutter shyly watches Keisha and Luke as they construct a block tower.
